Fortunately located in the middle of a rich pre-inca archeological site where two different cultures had developed Mochica and Lambayeque. The highlights are the recent discoveries of “Señor de Sipan” (Lord of sipan) in Huaca Rajada, “Señor de Sican” in Batan Grande and the valley of the Pyramids in Tucume. This gets even much greater with the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipan which holds an uncalculated value. As a result, Chiclayo turns the 2nd archeological touristic destiny after Cusco.

 

March 14th: Lord Cautivo of Monsefu. Villagers are fantastic weavers and embroiderers; they wear their traditional costumes to take part of the celebration in honor to the holy image.


March 19th: Saint Joseph’s Feast. Inhabitants from this “rice producer” city organizes liturgies and popular activities.
